About Our Llamas

We love working with llamas. We believe these lovely animals bring out the best in us. Our herd has been structured and created step by step with lots of thought and consideration into what we were doing. Very simply, we raise llamas for show and breeding.

We made a decision early on to always buy the very best we could afford and to always breed for correct confirmation, sweet dispositions, superior fibre and outstanding personalities.

We had good mentors in our early days who coached and taught us everything about this fabulous breed of animals. We purposely chose llamas over alpacas because of their personality. We like smart llamas and we enjoy their personalities and breed accordingly.

The main principle of our early breeding program was to create a herd with diverse bloodlines. It was 3 years after our first purchase that we decided to purchase our own herdsire. Up until then, we did several outside breedings every year to insure that we built a diverse herd.

When we bought Chile Bronsky, he was a total outcross in Canada. He was brought in as an Australian import and to this day we marvel at his influence in our herd.

Check out the females in our keeper herd. Bronksy produced sweet dispositions, tall and stretchy llamas with magnificent fiber. He added something special to every cria he produced. We recently sold him to Dutch Flats Llamas in Cheney Washington.

We changed the goals of our breeding program in 2002 by purchasing an "extreme" suri fleece herdsire. Peruvian Y2K has created the change we wanted to see in our herd. Suri fleece is not only popular, it produces a gorgeous yarn that drapes and feels like silk. Our new arrivals illustrate that in his first year of production, Peruvian Y2K has surpassed our expectations. We are proud of our awesome herd and invite you to visit us and see for yourself.

We're excited about the llama industry with this shift.

You can learn more about Suri fibre at www.surillama.com

We show our llamas often and have been fortunate to do well in the arena. We love showing because it gives us a chance to introduce others to what we are producing, to look for other animals or bloodlines we might want to add to our program, and to enjoy the camaraderie of other llama owners.

We're happy to share our showing techniques with others. You can check out our article at www.all-animals.com There's nothing more fun than winning! We've made many friends by showing our llamas. We love competition and enjoy travelling throughout Canada - and soon the USA - to show llamas.
